Undergraduate Degrees (See Fees Guide)

School-leavers and mature-age prospective students apply through the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC) for a Commonwealth-supported place in a degree program (See Fees Guide). Most domestic students have access to the Higher Eductation Contribution Scheme (HECS) to support their undergraduate studies.

The 2010 TISC Guide, which includes application forms, will be available from newsagents or the UWA Albany Centre during August 2009. Applications may also be completed via the TISC website.

A minimum Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) applies for school-leaver entry to all courses at UWA. Cut-off TER scores for individual courses may differ between metropolitan and regional locations. TAFE diplomas and advanced diplomas or studies at another university are also accepted for degree entry. Admission to all courses requires demonstration of English language competence. Some course have additional prerequisites (the Maths Competency Test below)

UWA Mature-age Access Program (UWA-MAP)

If you 20 or over (by 1 March 2010) and have little or no tertiary study experience, you may apply to commence university studies on a trial basis. Successful completion of provisional enrolment, including course prerequisites, will allow you to enrol in a degree course with credit for units already passed. The UWA-MAP is subject to final UWA committee approval for 2010 enrolments.

Continuing Education Students (Access UWA)

Enrol in a unit or two that interest you through UWA Extension's Acess UWA program. As a continuing education student enrolled on a not-for-degree basis, you have the option to apply for a place in a degree program if you have successfully completed four units. You may also apply to have these units credited towards your degree. Application forms are available from the UWA Albany Centre. Fees are payable at the time of enrolment.

Cross-institutional studies

Students enrolled at other universities may take UWA units on a cross-institutional basis and have them credited to their degree, subject to their university's approval. This option is often attractive to distance education students or those temporarily based in Albany.

International Students

International students are encouraged to study at UWA Albany and experience all that regional Australia has to offer. Enjoy cross-cultural experiences and develop friendships that contribute significantly to learning and play an on-going role in life.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

The STAT is a series of tests used by tertiary institutions throughout Australia as part of their admissions procedures. It is designed for mature-age applicants (those who will be 20 or over on 1 March) who have not recently completed Year 12 or who have not passed TEE English or acceptable equivalents.

If you have no other qualifications, high marks in the STAT may make you eligible for a place in some degree programs. Application forms and further information can be obtained from the Tertiary Institutes Service Centre (TISC). www.tisc.edu.au.

Maths Competency Test (MCT)

The MCT examines mathematical competence at an equivalent level to that of the TEE Discrete Mathematics course. The MCT is for those who meet all other entry requirements but do not meet the prerequisite 'any TEE mathematics' for admission to a particular course.

Contact UWA Admissions to find out if you are eligible to take the MCT.
