UWA is internationally recognised for its excellence in teaching and research,
and has offered undergraduate programs through the UWA Albany Centre since 1999.
The close-knit UWA Albany community also includes the Centre of Excellence in Natural Resource Management, the Institute for Regional Development, the Rural
Clinical School and the UWA Perth International Arts Festival.
In 2005, Curtin University joined UWA in Albany to provide additional courses
to the local community.
Studying in Albany provides a unique and rewarding alternative to the big city
campus experience. Why not join the growing ranks of students who have enjoyed
studying in a small regional university centre?
Our environment
The Albany Centre provides a personalised, friendly and supportive environment where students are known to each other and to staff. This individualised approach helps school-leavers and mature-age students alike adjust to the challenges of university studies. Small student numbers provide opportunities for students to take on a range of leadership roles in the academic and social life of the Centre.
Located in Albany's historic Old Post Office building, the Centre is just a short walk from the town centre and close to cafes and shops. The heritage building has been extensively refitted to provide excellent facilities for classes, laboratories, group and private study and after-class socialising.
All students have 24-hour access to modern, well-equipped computer laboratories.
Our flexible delivery
Face-to-face tutorials, laboratories and field trips with well-qualified and enthusiastic local tutors are a great way to learn. Lecturers and student advisers from Perth also visit throughout the year.
Your learning is supported with recorded web-based lectures, video-conferencing and online access to learning materials
(take a look). The City of Albany and metropolitan campus libraries jointly deliver library services.
Our support
A range of student support services help students adjust to university life. These services assist students to make the most of opportunities at UWA, support them in their personal development, and help them achieve their life, learning and career goals
Our student mentor scheme puts new arrivals in contact with experienced students who ease the transition to university study.
Our accommodation
We maintain a register of reasonably priced, private accommodation options for students
studying in Albany. The register lists houses, apartments and rooms in local residents' homes. Rental costs are generally less than in Perth.
