The Uni Smart Start Program is based on UWA Perth's successful Aboriginal Orientation Program.
It is designed for regional Indigenous and non-Indigenous people living in the Albany area who
do not have entry qualifications for UWA Albany degree programs.
Enrolling in Uni Smart Start enables you to prepare for university studies and
meet the requirements for a number of prerequisites. The program also helps you to prepare
for the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) and the UWA Maths Competency Test.
You have the option of studying full time or part time. Units will be offered in social science,
mathematics and science.
Australian or New Zealand citizens or holders of an Australian permanent resident visa
who will be 18 years or older in 2010 may apply. The selection process involves attending
an interview and completing some exercises to determine your current level of skills and knowledge.
Good News! As this is an enabling course, it is exempt from HECS and other tuition fees.
Students will be supplied with course readers and module workbooks at minimal costs.
You can apply for entry into a number of university degrees. The Albany Centre offers complete
bachelor degrees in Arts, Restoration Ecology and Education in Albany. Or you can start degrees
in Arts, Health Science and a variety of other Science areas and finish them in Perth.
