The Friends of UWA Albany was established in 1999 and is a support group of about 170 members.

Members are generally members of the community, including UWA alumni, who wish to support UWA in Albany.

The Executive Committee meets each month to report on new memberships and donations, and to plan fundraising activities.

  • The Friends of UWA Albany presents the Amity Prize to two students each year, and assists with the annual UWA Albany Centre Open Day.
  • As part of its fundraising and UWA promotional activities, the group also organises lunchtime Sandwich Seminars as well as occasional philosophy cafes.
  • Members of Friends often make their contribution to fundraising by organising events and/or volunteering for activities.

The group's main activities are to:

  • support UWA Albany students with provision of the Amity Prize and the Friends of UWA Albany prizes
  • organise stimulating talks and events
  • assist with UWA Albany events
  • publish a regular newsletter
